Clyde Basement

Remodel

Location: Fort Collins CO

"I have used Cherilee for a couple of projects in my home. The quality of her products is top of the line. She is professional, kind, worked well within my budget, responded when a furniture piece arrived damaged and had it fixed promptly. I have worked with many designers and Cherilee is one of the most talented designers I have worked with who demonstrates a passion for the industry and an ability to create elegant custom spaces."

This project was for an existing client that we have loved and loved working with on several projects over the last few years. The original design of the basement was creative but very specific to the previous owner. Our clients had moved to this home to downsize as they were approaching the empty nest stage of life. So, while the square footage was smaller, they still had their own way of enjoying and living in their home and a couple of those ways were to have a beautiful guest suite, an office and a room to watch movies and entertain in where everyone could pile in for that movie experience with all the comforts of home. We were able to combine two very awkward rooms into one beautiful guest room that had a dual purpose of storage for the clients. The storage solution was not typical nor would it be expected in this beautiful guest room. Behind those stunning Shoji screens are sturdy deep shelves where things are neatly tucked into storage containers. They are easy to access, organized and hidden behind one of our most favorite door features. These doors added to the overall luxury feeling of this guest suite while keeping it as a restful retreat for guests.

The previous bathroom had a tiny shower and unusable storage shelves. We redesigned the placement and made a beautiful large zero entry shower. The tile we chose gave us the ability to add the artistry to the room without wallpaper or paint. We took our time to lay out the tile pattern and add a little extra with gold angled bars that snuggly fit between random tiles. The end result is very uniquely theirs. There isn’t another one like it.

Their office was previously their storage and mechanical room. We kept some storage and disguised the mechanics by tucking them behind large sliding doors. This kept easy access but we gained an entire room with this creative solution. There is not a single window in this office but you don’t miss it because of the additional elements we added with the slat wall and gorgeous custom cabinetry. This room ended up giving us a bonus as an additional guest room with a luxurious velvet sofa sleeper that works great for guests but also as an incredibly comfortable place to sit and work option other than the desk.
